Mommy Jesus

The Belles are all getting into Christmas mode these days.  Tessa is particularly interesting to watch as this is the first Christmas where she kind of knows what's happening.  As expected, she has fallen in love with our Fisher Price Nativity set:

Seriously, this is the best Christmas decoration ever (thank you, Becky!).  Each of my toddlers has worshiped it.  But Tessa has put her own spin on things.  She is very fond of babies, so most of the time you can find Baby Jesus in one of her hands.  In the other, you will find one of the Three Wise Men.  Except to Tessa, it's actually Jesus' mother.  Or "Mommy Jesus" as she calls it.  She thinks it's the mom because he's holding a jar of Frankencense (or maybe it's Myrrh--it's hard to tell the difference).  She regularly has "Mommy Jesus" feed Baby Jesus out of that jar (the actual Mary in the set is holding nothing, so I guess that's why Tessa declared her an unfit mother).  It really cracks me up.

Tessa also participated in her sisters' impromptu Nativity play.  I love it when I stumble upon them doing things like this.  They found a basket full of dirty laundry and stuck Tessa in there.  I think it probably smelled about like the real manger.  Anyway, they lined up a couple of adoring animals.  And THEN they started fighting about who would play Mary and the whole magical moment downgraded into a shouting match (complete with massive amounts of tears).  It was really cute there for a few minutes.  (And yes, I just placed an order for Elf on the Shelf to see if that can improve sisterly relations.  We need to get ourselves together here lest Santa skip our house completely.)
